The Admissions Process

The application process at Dorris-Eaton.

The application process for August admission traditionally begins in the fall/winter prior to the school year in which the student will attend. Students are also accepted throughout the year, as mid-year vacancies do occur.

To ensure consideration for the February 21, 2025 early notification date, completed application materials for the 2025-2026 academic year must be submitted and interviews/evaluations must be completed by February 7, 2025.  For those seeking admission after the early notification date or mid-year admission, please contact the admissions office for availability.

An overview of the K–8 application process

Schedule a school visit.

Observe our students in a class environment, get to know our admissions team, and receive answers to any questions you may have.

Complete and submit your application.

Families seeking admission should visit https://mytads.com/a/dorriseatonschool to complete the application as well as submit the $250 evaluation fee.

Complete the student interview and evaluation.

Once all the application materials are received, we'll schedule your child for an interview and evaluation. Evaluation findings, along with progress reports and input from current teachers, are integral to the admission process.

Sixth-Eighth Graders: Complete the ISEE.

In addition to the on-campus evaluation, applicants for grades 6–8 take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). Students may elect to take the ISEE at Dorris-Eaton or another site. For information, go to iseetest.org.

Provide any needed supplemental information.

As part of the enrollment process, we'll need a small photo of your child—no larger than 4x6. First grade applicants should provide a copy of the kindergarten report card. Second through eighth grade applicants should provide copies of the report cards from the last two years and any standardized test results.
